Scott’s Short Interview:

Q = Scott, how long have you been in the entertainment industry?
A = I started my DJ career in June of 1988

Q = Scott, what would you say are your strengths and abilities as an entertainer?
A = That is a tough question, because I am not one to “Pat myself on the back”. I guess my top 3 strengths would be #1- My ethics #2 - My experience / professionalism, #3 - My creativity. My top 3 abilities would be #1 - My ability to put the client, for a given event, as my 1st and highest priority during their event. #2 - My ability to "read" an audience to know what music to play and not to play. #3 - My ability to be flexible, fun and easy to work with.

Q = Scott, what are some of your greatest accomplishments as an entertainer?
A = I would say that one of my main accomplishments would be when I was named as one of the Top 12 DJ's in the nation at a competition held in Atlantic City in 1998 with over 3,000 other Disc Jockeys.

Q = Scott, do you have any education related to the entertainment industry?
A = The greatest education that I have received regarding entertainment in the past years would be the week long training seminars that I attend consistently every year at DJ Expo’s held in different states (Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Cleveland Ohio, Chicago...)

Q = What was the most memorable event that you have performed for?
A = Wow, there are so many to choose from since 1988. I entertained at an event where Kool & the gang was in attendance, I performed for a WWF Wrestling star, a famous Drag Race Car Driver, I have been on the 95th floor of the John Handcock, I have performed on large boats sailing in Lake Michigan, I performed for the Chicago Blackhawks. Looking back over the past decade and a half, there are just so many memorable events to choose from.

Q = What would you say, was your funniest moment as a DJ?
A = My DJ staff and I have alot of those, there is rarely a dull moment with us, we really have fun being entertainers. I guess if I were to pick one out of a hat it would be the time when I was interviewing a lady who was having a 100 year old birthday party and chose me as her DJ. When I asked her what kind of music she wanted me to play at her birthday party, she responded "As long as it is not any 'young punk' music like 'Frank Sinatra' " For further questions, you can e-mail Scott Fijolek at:

“Humorous” & “Interesting” things we found out about Scott
(some of which he never wanted anyone to know about.)

We found out that...

  • In the Mid 80’s he actually attended a New Kids on the block concert with the opening act being none other than Weird Al Yankovic.
  • Scott was once hired, in the late 80's, to dress up like George Washington and roam the streets of Chicago handing out coupons for a White Hen Pantry promotion.
  • In the early 90’s he was named “Air Hockey Champion”.
  • Scott went through a stage, in the mid 90’s, where he would change his hairdo every 3 months.

Kevin’s Short Interview:
Q = Kevin, what would you say are some of your strengths and abilities as an entertainer?
A = I would think it would be my strong personality, people say that I am very “dynamic“, I have also been told that I have great microphone / MC skills.

Q = When did you start your DJ / Entertainment career?
A = Well, people say I have always been an entertainer, but I would say I officially started my career with 1st Class Interactive in 1999.

Q = Kevin, what would you say is one of your greatest accomplishments as a DJ / entertainer?
A = Becoming an exceptional MC would be one of the greatest. I enjoy the microphone.

Q = What was one of your most memorable events that you entertained for?
A = Entertaining for Powerhouse Gym and DJ’ing for a Sweet Sixteen Party are two off the top of my head, but every event I do is memorable.

Q = Kevin, do you have any words of advice for someone looking for the right DJ?
A = I would say to look for someone who considers the client the #1 priority, has a great personality, & experience. These are all equally important.

Q = Do you have any schooling that helps with your entertainment skills?
A = My major was in Psychology & Sociology - studying people & their environment - which has been key when trying to play music for a diverse crowd. I also have a strong business background, which helps me in making quick decisions at an event, it also guides me in being a great leader at a given event.

Q = Kevin, is there anything else you would like to say?
A = Well, people constantly tell me that I look like “Chris Rock“, I personally don’t think I do but, actually, I can do a pretty good impression of Chris Rock. “Why is it that every single time…” Well maybe it would be best to see my Chris Rock impersonation in person. Scott Fijolek said I am also very talented at doing many other impersonations. For further questions, you can e-mail Kevin Brummell at:

“Humorous” & “Interesting” things we found out about Kevin
(some of which he never wanted anyone to know about.)

We found out that...

  • Kevin once wrestled a jellyfish and lost.
  • He was nicknamed “Radar” in college for his “observation skills“.
  • Kevin’s favorite snack is orange circus peanuts.
  • Once while flying in an airplane, he saw a shiny flying object out the window and to this day is still wondering what it was.

Kevin’s Hobbies: Listening to music & Drawing
Kevin’s Birthday: February 24th

Wade's Short Interview:
Q = Wade, what would you say are some of your strengths & abilities as a DJ / Entertainer?
A = Strong communication skills and the ability to select the appropriate music for the occasion.

Q = When did you start your DJ career?
A = June 2001

Q = Wade, What would be your most memorable event that you entertained for?
A = Every experience has been enlightening and enjoyable. Watching a newly married couple enjoy their first day of marital bliss and being afforded the opportunity to make their day memorable bring joy to my heart and inspires my enthusiasm when entertaining. I make certain that the event is memorable for all of the parties involved.

Q = Is there a “Funniest Moment” you have experienced as a DJ / Entertainer?
A = Yes, the funniest moment or shall I say most shocking moment would be the surprise Elvis impersonator, that the Bride hired as a “surprise for the groom“, that called the “groom” on the day of the wedding to ask him for directions. The impersonator also showed up very late, forgot his music, was without equipment and was also intoxicated.
What I learned from experiences like that is that our job as the DJ / entertainer needs to be elevated to being a peacemaker and a resolver of conflicts. I understood then and I maintain now that my role as a DJ requires me to do more than just play music. For further questions, you can e-mail Wade Griffith at:

Mike’s Short Interview:

Q = Mike, what are your strengths and abilities as an entertainer?
A = I feel I am a very good "programmer" of music. I know what songs to play and when to play them. I am good at "reading" a crowd and determining what kind of music will get them to dance. I feel my experience as an entertainer is also a strength of mine.

Q = When did you start your career in DJ Entertainment?
A = September 1992

Q = Mike what are some of your accomplishments and victories in Entertainment?
A = I would say at every event when a client or guest tells me I did a great job, that is a personal victory for me.

Q = What would you say was one of your most memorable events?
A = I DJ'd for the Bozo Ball (charity fundraiser in 1998 at Navy Pier.) It was a black-tie fundraiser event that featured a performance by the Chicago band “Three Dog Night“. That was very memorable.

Q = Mike, what was your funniest moment as an entertainer?
A = A Wedding I did at the Abbington when two guys requested the song Car Wash and started dancing quite strangely... Priceless!! Watching people dance can be very amusing at times. Also, I would say any time I have the privilege to work with “Chris Rock“ (Kevin Brummell) That's a trip and a half!

Q = Do you have any words of advice for someone looking for the right DJ?
A = You need to choose someone who will know the right music to play to get you and your guests out on the dance floor. Also, you want to look for someone who knows how to motivate a crowd, get the people out on the floor, do interactive activities all while being professional and not obnoxious.

Q = Mike, Do you have any schooling in the entertainment industry?
A = I Attended a semester long disc jockey class at Columbia College (January-June 1996). B.S. in Journalism and Radio Broadcasting at Columbia College in Chicago (June 1998). I have taken many radio classes which helped me get started in the DJ industry.

Q = What event, would you say, was the event that you had the most enjoyable experience at?
A = It was at a wedding. I DJ'd a wedding reception on a Sunday evening. It was scheduled from 6PM to 11PM we did not end till almost 1:30 AM !!! It was such a great time. The topper was when the mother of the bride came up to me at the end and told me what a great job I did. I always enjoy the compliments I receive at the end of the night.
